Porsche 911 LMGT3 – 3‑Round Weissach Pilot🇩🇪 What is “Weissach”?
Weissach is the German town where Porsche’s famous research and development centre and test track are located. For decades, Porsche has designed, tested and refined its race cars there before they ever reach circuits like Imola, Barcelona or Interlagos. Calling this mini‑season the Weissach pilot is our nod to that heritage – a Porsche‑only championship built around the same spirit of development, consistency and precision driving.
📏 Pilot Season – Can We Make This a Regular?
The GRDC – Porsche Cup is a 3‑round pilot championship to see how a Wednesday‑night, single‑make Porsche series works for the community. We’re using this short season to test the format (PRO / PRO‑AM / AM classes, success ballast, mixed race lengths and a wet finale) and gauge interest, driving standards and admin load. If the pilot is successful and grids stay healthy, we’ll look at turning the Porsche Cup into a full, recurring Wednesday championship alongside our main GRDC programmes.

🎚️ Classes – PRO / PRO‑AM / AM
We’ll place everyone into one of three classes using GRDC ratings:
PRO – top‑rated drivers, expected front‑runners
PRO‑AM – strong, improving drivers and quick newer arrivals
AM – newer / developing drivers
All classes share the same grid and races, but points and ballast are applied per class, so there’s always someone to fight with. 🔥
🏆 Points (per class)
Points are awarded in each class as follows:
1st – 25
2nd – 18
3rd – 15
4th – 12
5th – 10
6th – 8
7th – 6
8th – 4
Bonus:
🅿️ +1 point for pole (class‑best qualifying time)
⚡ +1 point for fastest lap in class (only if you finish in the top 10 in class)
Round 1’s two races both award full points.
No drop scores for this 3‑round pilot.
⚖️ Success Ballast (per class)
To keep things tight and reward consistency, we’re running success ballast for the top 4 in each class every round:
🥇 1st in class: +20 kg
🥈 2nd in class: +15 kg
🥉 3rd in class: +10 kg
🏅 4th in class: +5 kg
Ballast rules:
Ballast stacks across rounds up to +60 kg max.
If you finish outside the top 6 in your class, you lose 10 kg (never below 0 kg).
For Round 1, ballast for Round 2 is based on total points from both 30‑min races.
For Rounds 2 → 3, ballast is based on the race result.
We’ll post a “Ballast Table” before each round showing your weight for the next event. 📊
📏 Driving Standards
Respect blue flags, no defending when being lapped. 🔵
No divebombs, weaving or intentional contact. Race with respect and give room. 🤝
Incidents will be reviewed by GRDC stewards post‑race. Penalties may include time penalties, grid drops or other sanctions where needed.
Full GRDC rules and expectations apply as usual.

Sign up on SimGrid for the GRDC – Porsche Cup (Weissach Pilot).
Make sure your Discord and SimGrid names match or are easily identifiable.
Be in voice comms for the driver briefing before Round 1 qualifying.
If this pilot lands well and the grids are strong, we’ll look at expanding the GRDC – Porsche Cup into a full Wednesday‑night championship. 🐷🔧
